Scam alert.... response to my WTB ad

This may not be new, but it was new to me.....

Had put a WTB ad here and a couple of other forums. Yesterday I received an email from "Andrew Shear" (for those of you who don't know, that is the name of the owner of ShearTime - a reputable vintage dealer) offering me watch I wanted. The email contained a description of the watch and a number of scans were included in a second email.

I was not initially skeptical, but when I started to review the scans, I realized I had seen the scans before - on an offering from another legitimate dealer's website. Obviously downloaded by the scammer, and sent to me. A closer look at the email address revealed a generic [email protected]. Scam.

Another sobering reminder to me just how careful you must be these days.
