Updated vs previous models: do you notice a difference?

As we all know, the Datejust and GMT II and some other models have an updated case which is designed to be more comfortable. What I wonder is: do you notice the difference between the old and the new in terms of wearing comfort? Or is the difference not one you can feel? I was wondering because if there was a difference, I might prioritize buying an updated model first and wait to get a Submariner after they update it with the new case shape/design. If the difference is not particularly significant or noticeable let me know. Thanks.
