Luckiest fake watch owner ever!!
Hi,
so I was in at my watch guy. It is all locked up with steel doors etc and three of us happen to enter at once into the quite minute customer area. I had a brand new 114060 to get sized and was dismayed to find two in front of me (one gets the feeling it is often deserted so it seemed like bad luck). Anyway this guy is asking where i bought the watch and im trying to say pretty quietly on TRF, as i'm in this watch guy's place who sells watches and i don't want to be seen as a jackass ruining a good customer for him. Anyway he starts saying he's concerned he'll get a fake etc etc and I'm saying well you should be worried but I felt comfortable having built confidence over time etc etc. Anyway the assistant pipes in with a story about a guy who came in. Guy had a Patek Phillippe (don't know which model) and put in for servicing. These guys checked it out and ended up sending it to PP themselves for repair. PP come back and say, this is a fake! But a great fake. Such a great fake they wanted to keep it to study it. And so they give the fake watch owner a brand new real PP! If you think that sounds crazy I did note in that doco on watches (see thread "I can't stop watching this" that they show a very good PP nautilus copy which the "Watch Guru" found to be very good. Also same guy notes to PP UK director that he has jeweller mates who know better who've seen copies so good they didnt know. Luckiest fake watch owner ever! And surely the wrong kind of encouragement! |
