Making a milsub?

OK, not really but I am considering buying a submariner and having a jeweler install/weld fixed spring bars. I generally hate the idea of a modified Rolex but I want to wear the watch strictly with NATO straps. I rarely take watches off and I'm generally rough on them.

I'd live in fear of a spring bar popping off and I am not concerned with resale value. I assume I'd lose the ability to have the watch serviced by Rolex but I can always use a watchmaker for a tune up when the time comes. This is the only mod I'd want to make and I'm wondering if anyone on here has done something similar.

I assume this won't sit well with some members, just putting the idea out there. I don't think there's anything cooler than a beat-up stainless steel Rolex.
