Icon9 New Incoming...well, not quite yet!

So I was all excited to post about a new acquisition but alas, it's not to be...yet.

Not going to tell you what I'm hunting for but here is what happened.

Found the model I wanted from a private party who had it listed on another forum. Emailed him and he replied it was available but took an entire day to get back to me. I replied as soon as I got his email with my offer. It took all day but he finally replied, "Ok, I will contact you tomorrow" and gave me the name of his bank so I could wire him the funds.

Didn't hear from him and emailed twice. He finally replied stating a local guy emailed him to purchase and if the deal fell through, he would contact me.

WTF?? I emailed him back that wasn't cool or an honorable way to conduct business since we had a deal. He emails me back that there must be a misunderstanding because his "OK" wasn't an acceptance of my offer, only that he would contact me. He said he was sorry I was disappointed and good luck.

Yeah, whatever...that's crap and he knows it. Another buyer showed up, he gets to save on shipping plus cash in hand.

A few years ago I listed a rare classic Doxa and had multiple offers. I sold it for my asking price to the first person who emailed me even though I had others offer me more and asked I sell it to them instead. I thanked them but no, that's not how I operate and told them I wouldn't do that to them either.

Oh well, lots more built so not going to sweat it but thought I would post about it and ask if this had happened to anyone else?

If so, what did you do or reply?
