TIME SETTING- Clockwise / Counter-Clockwise

Hunting for Air-Kings this week, I noticed that some of the very slightly older models, like around the late nineties set by turning the crown counter-clockwise, while the newer models set clockwise, which is what I'm used to with my other Rolex.

Can anyone please tell me when that changed, and which no-date calibre was the former, used in the mid-late 90's that set counter-clockwise?

Thanks, fellas!
