First post looking for feedback. Explorer 39mm or SubC no date?
I am visiting the NYC Rolex Boutique later today, not to buy, but to try.
Wanted to introduce myself as a new member here. I recently sold my Omega Planet Ocean Ceramic 42mm. I did it to originally fund the purchase of the Pelagos, but changed my mind. I am now leaning toward either the Explorer or the subc no date. Go big or go home i guess. Before you give me advice on which timepiece, let me explain why i sold every Omega i have owned and how I cant seem to commit to one watch. I want to be one watch type of guy. The Omega PO both with 2500 and 8500 cal were great. the 8500 calibre was almost as accurate as my quartz gshock. But it was too tall in height even in 42mm. especially for a 3 hand non chrono. I decided not to get the pelagos because if i am going to spend $4k for tudor, why not go for rolex if i have the budget, to get the name, prestige and in house movement. The only watch I do love and will never sell (Dont laugh) is my Hamilton Jazzmaster Power Reserve. 40mm, ETA 2897. It was a special gift and i love how premium it looks for a watch under $900. I am in NYC and often see working professionals on the subway and metro north trains with Rolex Submariners. I see more Submariners than any high end sport watch. This somewhat bothers me. I have always wanted to be unique. But there must be valid reasons why so many people own the subc. and the new subc without date looks fantastic. But I also really love the design language of the Explorer. Very clean without a rotating diver bezel. No date. elegant matte black dial. Resale value is also important. As i hope i can hold onto either rolex forever, my track record says i wont. My guess is the subc will retain better value for what i pay since demand is so high? I honestly think i will likely own both. But which do i get 1st? |
