Replacement bands

I am new to the world of Rolex. I received a gift of a Rolex Oysterdate Precision from 1958, model 6494. It is very clean but has an aftermarket leather band which is very tight on my wrist. Also, the band does not have the Rolex buckle. I am thinking about replacing the band and would like advice on whether or not I should spend the money on a genuine Rolex stainless steel bracelet? A Rolex leather band with the Rolex buckle? Buy a simple aftermarket ss bracelet or a leather band that fits? I don't know how the different bands will effect the value of this timepiece. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
