Icon5 Dumb RAD strap question of the day

I have my first Rad, a 425. Man, after using the Luminor strap system the Rad screws are like real work!

I'm having an issue with the straps touching the case. The OEM straps are mostly pretty thin material. Still the end of the strap that attaches to the loops seems to rub on the watch case.

The issue is that I am starting to make my own straps and I like some thick beefy vintage leather such as ammo pouches and thick hides. There is no way those will fit. Even if I skive out the material to make it thinner I risk having it break.

(I made one strap from relatively cheap leather for one of my wife's watches and it ripped here after a few months. Now I am very fearful of this.)

What I need/want are longer loops that would allow a nice thick strap. Am I missing something? Do such loops exist?
