Need some 36mm AP/RO advice

Though a 36mm Rolex Explorer I would make me happy, happy, happy... I just don't need the attention it may draw from customers or employees. I've had displays of "wealth" come back and bite me in the ass.

Searching for a brand to fly under the radar, I've become interested in a 36mm AP-Royal Oak.

I really like 36mm for my day to day use. I cannot stand much more than that size.

Is there anything that should concern me about discontinued models?

I understand the servicing can be expensive and time consuming.

Is it more the passage of time and changing fashion that I see so few 36mm RO's? Very little discussion...

They are priced right to boot.

Any guidance appreciated.
