Old meets New, BLNR arrival

I finally was able to take some iPad pics (sorry in advance for the quality compared to some of you amazing photographers ).

I recently was given my fathers Sub which he bought when I was three years old. This watch was a present to himself for retiring from the Army, and marked his entry into civilian life. The watch was loved and cared for by him since I can remember, and I have always been so fascinated with it. I was recently promoted, and to mark the occasion of becoming an officer, he gave me this watch. He wanted me to have something that would fit the size of my wrist (as compared to the AK I have), and to match the honor of promotion. He was even nice enough to get it serviced in preparation for the occasion! This watch is my daily watch and will always be a piece of my fathers history on my wrist.

I have been scrimping and saving for a while to be able to buy my very own Rolex. I have always wanted a GMT, as I fly as a hobby. This watch was an icon to me when I would visit AD's and meet other pilots with the watch. When the BLNR was released, it sang to the depths of my watch loving soul. I was able to develop a relationship with a local AD, and get on their list. The goal was a pre Christmas delivery, and they met this with time to spare! I have never seen such a piece that fit me and my style like the GMT BLNR. The colors, little bit of flash, and tribute to history is right up my alley.

The watch came home with me and is going to be my weekend watch. Something to wear along side the Sub and represent the next step in our family's collection. Funny coincidence, my father bought his Sub when I was three years old, and now I have bought the GMT...my own son is also three years old .

I have learned so much here, and been inspired by your great threads and pictures. Here is my humble contribution to the forum:
