I bought my daughter her first watch tonight...

Yes, it's a Rolex. Yes, it's her first watch.

I'm not going to give it to her now, though. After all, she's only seven.

It will be tucked away, with a letter from her dad, until the right time comes. Maybe college graduation...maybe some other occasion. I will know when the time has come.

Meanwhile, it's a secret, so don't tell her!

Now, while such a gift seems extravagant, I'm looking at this way: I bought the watch on layaway tonight...so, I've locked in the price and can pay it off over the next three months.

I'm guessing Rolex will raise the price again a time or two between May 2014 and May 2029!!! Much cheaper to buy now, don't you think?

What watch, did you ask?

Why, a classic, of course. A Lady Oyster Perpetual. 26mm. Steel. Silver dial. Reference 176200, if you must know. I love it's simplicity, its purity, its grace.

Here's a photo, from the Rolex website...it will have to do until the July 21, 2014 pickup date...
