Introduction - First BORING post....
Happy Friday to you all!
Long time lurker over here as I've been a quiet admirer of any and all things Rolex. My watch obsession began at a very young age when I would literally stare at my Casio for hours on end. I just loved the way they looked on the wrist. Ever since I was about 7 or 8, I always had a watch on my wrist. I've had some questionable watch decisions (as you will read below) but it was all a part of the maturation process......right? I won't even mention the "fashion watch" phase..... After graduating college, I bought my grail at the time. All through high school and college (late 90's / early 2000's) I was obsessed with Tags. So I finally took the plunge and bought myself a Tag Formula F1. Loved it and wore it daily for 5 years! Then on my 30th birthday, my girlfriend decided she would commemorate my milestone with a Bell & Ross BR03-92. The square design never sung to me prior to getting the watch...but I did like it on the nylon velcro strap it came with. It was a special gift and because of that, I will likely never part with it. I continued the big watch trend and got a PAM 111. I've been a big fan of Panerai's since I first saw one in the flesh. My cousin had one before I even heard of the brand and seeing it on his wrist stuck with me for many, many years. This is still presently my daily driver. It's a fantastic, solid watch. Within the past year I joined the Rolex family via a hand down. My stepfather had a gold DJ from the early 80's that he never wore and decided to give it to me. 36mm just doesn't look right on my wrist....but I love it. I may get this serviced and have my future wife wear it....it looks fantastic on her. So....what compelled me to finally emerge from the dark corners of TRF? After carefully observing for a while, I finally got comfortable with the Sales section of the forum and dipped my toe in the water a bit. I've always been a bit fascinated with the Speedmaster Pro - 3570. Moonwatch, hesalite crystal, yadda yadda....but it's not terribly expensive and presents great value in my opinion. I was set on finding one in brand new condition and was lucky enough to stumble across Sohail's FS thread. Took me a while to get comfortable with the idea of doing such a transaction online....but he was great. Had a bit of an adrenaline rush sending the payment....but I feel great now. Should be here tomorrow morning! Sorry for the long post....I feel like the guy you just meet and he pours out his life story....from birth. I'll keep the rest short....and will update once I receive this beauty. S/O to Sohail if you come across this thread! |
