Pleasant experience at RSC NYC

Summary: Long story short, RSC fixed a large scratch for free that my AD was going to charge me upwards of $150

The Story:
I purchased my first Rolex (sub) back in December 2013 from the esteemed DavidSW. Within a month, I had a very noticeable scratch on one of my links (devastated). Since it was on one of the 6 o'clock links, it was a daily reminder of my terrible mistake ! Now, I understand Rolex are "tool" watches and I have fine scratches where it comes in contact with my desk. However, this scratch was in my constant view and like I said, much larger.

So after months of living with it and trying to put it behind me, I went to my local AD to ask if they can brush the scratched link to remove the "incident". At first they said it was impossible and I would have to get an entire new link but then said they could possibly send it to RSC. The cost? $150. Yeah RIGHT!

Today, I was on a trip to NYC and decided to make an impromptu stop at RSC! Attached are some cellphone photos of the place. Much smaller than I expected, but very well furnished. I later realize the back room where the service center is located is much larger.

Anyway, the receptionist at Rolex was very polite and asked me to fill out a form with my basic info and said to wait while a technician came out to look at my watch. After a 15 min wait, the technician came out and I explained the problem. She didn't require me to show my Rolex serial card, which I was surprised. She also said RSC will take care of it free of charge After a short wait, she came out with the scratch completed brushed, like new! Also, I was given a traveller pouch and microfiber cloth, very nice gesture! In hindsight I should have asked her to polish the entire bracelet :p

Funny side note:
Two people were in front of me, one guy came in and said his wife's watch kept stopping, he stated she does not wear it often, but didn't think the time would stop so quickly. The technician had to explain to him that this was an automatic watch and you had to wind it or wear it...

Second guy wanted RSC to verify if his watch was authentic. The technician asked him for his paperwork, which he said was at home. The tech then said to verify it would cost $130, which he then refused.

Luckily, my faith in WIS was restored when I shared an elevator ride and a nice conversation regarding Rolex out of RSC with this guy and his black Daytona.
