this is a watch from an independent I just had to order

perfect discrete dress watch

Just look at the finishing !!!

Most USD 15K watches look worse and this is much cheaper

A few things you might want to know

Pascal Coyon is a French independent watchmaker, afaik he used to repair high end watches and years ago he had an idea …. making his own watch
It took a few years to decide how it should look like and how the movement should look like. research and development does take some time :-)

Most important, he wanted to make a watch just like they did in the early 1900's

He did not start from scratch but like many or even most independents he started from a base calibre. a Unitas in this case.
But as you can see this is not a Unitas anymore, bridges were replaced, the regulating system is changed ( used to be a swan neck) and the beveling is just AMAZING. The JLC's or Zeniths I have or had are not finished at such a high level.
The beveling is done BY HAND ! and is really impressive. Screws are very nice polished too. And I prefer them like they are those blued screws are imo unnecessary ( keep this for the German brands)
The regulating system is black polished and super cool.

On top of that Pascal Coyon wanted to get chronometer specifications. And each watch will be tested at Besançon ( chronometer certificate which is imo much cooler than the 2 million watches every year with the COSC :-) )
btw, Roger Dubius also prefers Besançon

Since this watch is handmade don't expect to see many of them.
He will make 60 of them
20 with rhodium movement, 20 with yellow gold finishing and 20 with red gold finishing. The last is already sold out.

I ordered one and delivery will take place in the third quarter of 2015

I think he can make 40 or so per year.

A great English article : http://www.watchesbysjx.com/2014/07/...ronometer.html

Or a French one : http://equationdutemps.blogspot.be/2...honometre.html

Anyway, I'm very curious to see where this independent will take us in the next 10 years. Totally unknown today but didn't they al start this way ? :-)
15 years ago nobody knew Kari Voutilainen, Philippe Dufour or Journe.
I think this watch at that price is just a major opportunity I couldn't let go.
