A Sub and A Explorer 2
Hello all, not a regular but have been around. I recently had the pleasure of picking up 2 pieces relatively back to back. I owned a couple pieces that weren't getting much love and it was time to move them on. Found (jzeal) Neil who happens to be local to me with a solid reputation. The trades and purchases were a no brainier for me. Values both way were more than fair and Neil has been a pleasure to deal with.
So the first was a Sub ref 114060, absolutely love it and found the maxi dial to be superb. Having no date isn't a big deal though I have found myself looking to the watch for the date occasionally, no big. The clean dial and the feel, to me, of a bit of tradition in this piece made it a win. I like the wider lugs and the bracelet and clasp r fantastic. Glide lock is one of the best parts about this watch. I have found myself using it during diff times of the day, it really has been very useful for me. So I called on Neil once again for the next piece. This harks back to yet another classic but modernized along with a larger case. The Explorer 2 ref 216570 white dial. I don't necessarily need the additional time zone but use it as my 24 hour time. I love the large orange gmt hand and the lacquer white dial is bright and crisp. The larger hands are even better for me when quick glancing for the time. The comfort clasp is good but would have liked to see the Sub clasp with glide lock on this also. I know there is the summer/winter 5mm adjustment but... Nevertheless Rolex made 42 mm feel like 42 without making it feel bigger on the wrist, if that makes sense. Absolutely spectacular watch. Anywho thanks TRF as I continue to learn and obsess over many of u folks gorgeous pictures and incredibly knowledgable threads. Happy wrist shots all! Ken Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
