A simple quartz watch...
My $95 Kenneth Cole dress watch bought new almost 15 years ago. 39mm, quartz movt, acrylic crystal, sunburst dial with no minute markers or lume. A great basic watch.
Although my watch collection now consists of only well-made mechanical watches (sans the Kenneth Cole), I'll never get rid of this one because it reminds me of when I bought watches simply because I liked the look. Didn't matter if it cost $5 and was made of plastic. I knew nothing about sapphire crystals, anti-magnetic mainsprings, chronometer ratings, or wrist-to-case size ratios. It was watch enjoyment at the simplest level. See it, like it, buy it. I wear this one all the time to remind myself not to take this whole watch collecting thing too seriously and always try to find value in the most simple of things. |
