OK if my SeaDweller gets wet?

Met a great guy this afternoon who shared this about his SeaDweller.

Purchased new by him in 1977. About 10 yrs later was working on his boat in his slip at the marina on the Intercoastal. Somehow bashed the watch into a stanchion causing something to break and down went the watch, into the water which was about 12 feet deep at that point. He immediately tied a colored line to the dock at the point where it fell.

Somehow, it took him exactly 3 months and 11 days to assemble his scuba gear and wetsuit. He tied an 8 foot piece of 20 pound test to the dock with a fishing weight and glow stick on the end. Long story short, after about an hour of rummaging around the bottom of the Intercoastal he was able to find and secure his watch.

Upon resurfacing, unfortunately, he found that it was not running. Until he wound it; then it ran perfectly and does so today.

He told me that this timepiece had simply become "a part of me, I never, ever take it off." Good for him!
