New arrival - 9411/0 blue "snowie" tudor
just came in yesterday and this watch was actually becoming "anticlimatic" - it took that long to wrap the deal up - mainly delays with international bankwire (international laws allow banks on each side to hold the funds 7 days, basically to give them a chance to shop for a better exchange rate than they charge the customer and earn some free interest, i suppose. seller was decent thru out, none of it was his fault, but it was about 5 weeks from the time we made the deal to the time it finally arrived - i'd actually lost my anticipation - then when i opened the box, i remembered why i had wanted it.
Seller was pretty decent guy (Alistair at ATG vouched for him, plus the original seller of this watch did same), came with original owner's manual and warranty sheet and a tudor svc center box. I was little surprised, owner's manual is exactly like the one that came with my 7928 with only difference, the page showing the submariner model, shows a pix of a snowie instead of mercedes hands. I got hooked on the tudors because of the 79090 blue tudor at the bottom, that i had actually bought because it was priced really great, was in great condition (still had the original tudor sticky on the back, seller had only worn it 3 times since 1992 and was the original owner, and it had just come back from rolex svc center for servicing) - came with all boxes, papers, owners manual etc and the real reason i bought it was a) I'm a sucker for blue and b) had been considering a rolex, and after going thru a ton of watches that don't wear the way i expect them to, i figured i'd grab it, wear it awhile to see how it balanced/wore on my wrist before buying a rolex sub hell, the thing has so much "pop" on the wrist, it didn't just call to me, it screamed out to me - in fact, this deal was a face to face deal - seller carried it to my partner out in mesa, AZ - my partner wears a rolex sub but isn't a WIS and wasn't aware of tudor. In spite of my having said it would be identical to his sub, when he called to describe he was almost stuttering or in shock - quote "this thing is .... just like my rolex" me: "I know ray, that's what i had saied" "No, it 's, why it's IDENTICAL" - he was just about in shock over how exact it was to his rolex sub. anyway, that first 79090 led to the 7916, that led to the first 7928 the one i posted sometime back with the embarrassingly bad redial, then this 9411, and now, as of last night, another 7928 with a gilt dial and this 9411 is actually nicer on the wrist, plus i don't like to wear the 79090 - it's still pristine new and the few marks i've put on it bother me - actually occasionally think about selling it cause i'm not wearing it think i'm going to take a break from watch acquisitions for awhile btw -that canvas gas mask bag in the background in the 3rd shot down, is actually faded grey (i've got to get a camera with better color balance control) - getting ready to send it off to get some canvas watch straps made - hoping Jurgen in germany will enjoy |
