702 Crown Repair Possible?

Just wondering if anyone here has had this issue and successfully completed a repair.

I got a great deal on this 702, though the stem retainer has separated from inside the sleeve of the crown. When the stem assembly is reinserted into the crown sleeve, the spring mechanism works perfectly, and the stem can wind the movement. It can't set the time of course, as the two parts will simple slide out of each other. Seems like the little hooks at the bottom of the crown sleeve have let go. Hence my wondering if I very gently and minimally squeezed the bottom of the crown sleeve while the stem and spring is compressed into the case...might be enough to retain everything.

Pics attached...and info, ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated!
