RSC Dallas: Out of Warranty coverage??

I sent my 39mm explorer (that I purchased on TRF about 2 years ago) to the RSC Dallas because it has essentially no power reserve. It is around three years old and out of warranty. In the paperwork that I enclosed when I mailed the watch, I explained that it was out of warranty and purchased used. They have requested that I send a copy of the warranty card to them. I have just done this and I'm wondering what's going on.

Could there be an issue with the provenance of the watch? Might they cover the repair even though it's out of the warranty period? So far, they haven't said much. My first experience with RSC and my only expectations going in were that it would cost a fair amount of money and take a while....
