Review - new PAM 287

Hi guys

New to Panerai but after much research on a second watch, decided on a PAM 287 and thought I'd share my thoughts.

I have a Rolex GMT IIC and wanted another classic but with a leather strap and a different look to my Rolex. I love the look and simple elegant design of Panerai and the history behind them - quite cool to think you're wearing something originally designed for Italian Navy commandos!

I like the Luimor but thought the Radiomir had a more classic, retro feel and a bit more understated, not too flashy. Although the 287 is also big watch, it seems not quite as chunky and a bit more restrained than the Luminor. I also really like the seperate second hand on Panerais - a nice detail but not over the top.

The other thing I liked about the 287 is they seem to be a bit limited... The only downside was that I wanted the dark tan crocodile strap but apparently due to some customs issue they're stuck in Hong Kong quarantine for a few months. But it's such a beautiful watch, I'm sure I can put up with the black strap for a while!

Anyway, here's a pic:

By the way, thanks for the great forum - nice to know I'm in good company
