Vintage Sub help- 5512 or 5513?
I have come across a vintage Submariner locally, but have not been able to get my hands on it yet. I do have photos and have done a fair bit of research, but have not come up with anything conclusive as my knowledge in this area is admittedly very limited.
The watch does have service history documentation, along with origina sales receipt (or should I say original to the current owner for $1650 ) with it and would be included if a purchase was made. The seller is identifying it as a 5512, but I believe that is only due to what their paperwork says. Some of what I have found makes me think it is a 5513 due to the feet first two line dial. From what I have been able to deduce, without the serial number, as the seller has said it is illegible to them, it is either a 1976 5512 or a 1978 5513, which could be completely wrong. If any of you have a differing opinion, or can offer help/advice, I appreciate it greatly! Here are some photos the seller sent me via text message: Really any information you can provide, or advise on things I need to ask or look for is appreciated. Service dial? Hands? Bezel? Pricing? |
