Incoming for the wife

While walking around midtown NYC this summer, we stopped in the JLC boutique. While I was trying on various Reversos and Ultra Thins, my wife wandered to the women's section, and a few ladies Reversos caught her eye. She tried on the medium sized Reverso Duetto, but due to her petite size, she tried on the smaller one (ref. 2668412). Voila...it was an instant hit for her. The size was great for her, along with the fact that it is like having 2 great watches in one. The "casual" side is a classic white face, with an "evening" side based on a black dial accented with 2 rows of diamonds. My wife is not into watches that garner attention, and thus isn't usually a fan of diamonds. However, the layout on the Reverso Duetto is done with perfect subtlety. In addition, the JLC calibre 844 is a movement any true WIS would appreciate! The watch she has been wearing for the past 10+ years is the Cartier Tank Francaise. A nice looking watch, but it's a quartz movement, and she always wanted a mechanical watch.

Fast forward to the last month...and the same watch is on both of our minds. We decide now is a good time to pull the trigger on it. Since then, I have been in talks with George at Govberg Jewelers about that watch. I finally give him the go ahead to get the 2668412 ordered. Alas, he tells me it has been discontinued, and replaced with a slightly updated version in the 2668430. The new reference number has only a few slight changes. The dimensions are about 1mm larger in both directions, with the "casual" dial font having the more classic type. The crown is also of a more classic design, and the strap has a seamless look. After showing my wife the changes, we are both satisfied with the updates, and send in our payment for it. We were told it would be expected at the end of the month.

This past weekend, I got notice from George that the watch will soon be ready to be shipped to us. We received it yesterday, and my wife couldn't be happier. Great size for her petite wrists. Luckily, the last hole in the strap is a good fit for her, so no need to get an extra hole punched.

For you WIS guys who are considering a watch for the special lady in their life, I highly recommend giving the Reverso Duetto line a serious look. As stated before, it is a ladies watch that any male who appreciates horology will appreciate!
