Icon14 FitBit Charge HR question

I won a FitBit Charge HR last night at the company Christmas party and am curious about it.
I'm right handed so my non-dominant is my left. However that's the wrist I wear my watch on so I've decided to wear it on my right anyway. I hope it'll still be somewhat accurate.
I like gadgets and it was free so that's cool but in truth right now I'm a middle age fat guy with arthritis and back problems - hoping to use it as a tool for motivation, get moving more etc.
Now I'm already thinking about New Years resolutions. Yeah fitness.
How are you using your fitness trackers? Are they doing all they promise and are you getting good, useful data?

I bought a cheap watch from the crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says "now"
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong
And if I have trouble the warranty said
Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
