Blasphemy Incoming
I never thought I would do it, but I did. Just ordered an Apple Watch. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT....... Now hear me out.
My Rolex is still going to be my everyday I'm not at work watch. Obviously this is due to the fact of fights, etc that happen on the job. However, the Apple Watch is something just a little different I will be using ON the job. From speaking to other cops, they seem to be pretty rugged, especially with some of the case options. Don't get me wrong, my G-Shock has been great. However, a perfect few examples of why the apple watch should work out just perfect for me. A) Suspect runs from the scene of a crime and I am called to run a track with K9. Well, I have been in several situations where you start tracking through backyards, neighborhoods, and you have a pretty good idea where you are exactly, but not the EXACT location. With the Apple watch I can just tell the watch to pull up maps. I technically will have an overhead GPS map of my location and can reposition the perimeter units to where I need them etc. B) I'll be honest, as technology grows we have 10,000 distractions in our cop car. Radar, Computer Dispatch System, Computer Messaging System (for BOLOs etc), Cameras running, phones ringing etc. With the amount of crap we wear and have to carry, it is not always easy to get to a ringing phone just to see who is calling our messaging. WELL, with the watch, it will be easier to just take a quick glimpse down at the watch to see who messaged or is calling to see if I need to pick up. ANDDDDDDD if I do need to pick up, I can answer from my watch and not have to hold a phone to my ear while typing notes on the computer, checking where other squad cars are etc. C) I wore a fit bit for a while, but hated the display as I wanted more info when I looked at the time: Date Temp etc. When working 3rd shift and you are technically working during the midnight day change, you often get very confused on what day it is. The Apple Watch will take care of more than what my FitBit did and then some. Often times with the fitbit, I still wore a Gshock. D) On K9 tracks I can set the watch up to track where I travel. This is helpful for my later report when it comes to "terrain encountered, direction traveled etc). E) Because I can? lol..... Ill be interested to see if it is all that is cracked up to be. Ill post pictures when I get. JUST REMEMBER, this thing will NOT be replacing the rolex as my "going out, I'm not working" watch.
