First Grail

Hello all,

I'd like to say a quick thank you to everyone on this forum who makes it the great success it is. I love reading your posts and sharing the joy of your great acquisitions.

A few months ago I turned 40 and posted this birthday plea. I wanted a grail piece and have been saving up for years to that end.
Spoiler alert in the original thread:

Based on this ad, I got a lot of responses but none seemed to be "just right."

Until Monday.

David SW emailed me and asked, "Weren't you looking for a certain watch? Did you find it yet? Well, I have one and it's still in plastics."

I was thrilled. I thought about it all day and finally said to myself, "Jonny, you worked your ass off and you wanted this piece since it came out nearly 10 years ago, now go out there and get that grail."

Welp, thats what I did.

I'd like to thank a bunch of people:

First, my brother mcaparso for being my sounding board. We all have those friends who can't understand the money we "waste" on watches when we have a phone with the time in our pocket. They simply don't understand. My brother understands. Thanks Bro.

JJ Irani. Every time I log on to TRF I see pictures of him smiling and I smile too.

Dr. Tom, the great enabler. Doc, I grew tired of waiting for your wife to give up your watch hehe. Thank you for all of your posts, pics, and answering some of my questions during this process.

HL65, Kilyung, Runnin' Rebel, Rolex Addict, Joli160, I've been enjoying your stories and the pics of your watches I grabbed off the forum for my dream board.

David SW, thank you for remembering my desire months later and reaching out. Purchasing a watch with you was a professional pleasure.

If I have not completely given it away already....

Without further ado.
