History/ ID of this watch

I found this watch cleaning out my uncles house. I think he got it in the late 50's or early 60's.Any information that could be given would be great.
What would the original strap been like? Would it be leather or metal?
It had no strap on it when I found it and I just put that one on it for now.
It runs great, keeps good time and self winds.
I have no doubt that is is original.
