Picked Up First 1675
Kind of an impulse buy, but I am glad I pulled the trigger.
As the story goes, the previous owner bought it off an army buddy in 1970 and had it until he sold it a couple of months ago to the dealer that I bought it from. He had is serviced by Rolex in the 1980's, and requested that engraving be removed from the case back--they replaced the case back with a 16750. Also looks like they replaced the insert as well as gave it a polish. The watch was last serviced in 2013 and a set of lumi hands installed, but not polished. For a 1.95M serial from 1968, it is decent shape and will make a good daily wearer. I may have ABC paint the hands to match since I hate ones that glow! It also came with the original Rolex USA 69 rivet bracelet that is darn near mint. |
