5 & 6 digit brothers
I've just allowed myself the experience of having both the 114060 and the 14060m. Who else has the 5 & 6 digit version of their favourite reference?
I've read a lot of reports on which is better and why... but never truly appreciated the differences for myself Both watches practically represent my initial attractions to the brand. The submariner 14060 was the watch I drooled after and tried on for size numerous times even though I had no money to own one.... but that Did not dissuade me. Eventually I got into a position where a purchase was looming. Amidst the relentless price increases in the uk at the time I managed to get on to the "rolex ladder". But, that first watch was a 116610ln. Simply the newest submariner to the market - with all the so called improvements... ultimately I'd have preferred the 114060 but it hadn't been invented at that time. Soon enough the 114060 hit the market tho and so I did make the change. Recently however I've rediscovered my rolex roots and acquired the initial object of my desire the 14060m I can certainly see the difference between them. But I also really appreciate those differences. It's taken a while to see through the fog of "what's the best" in order to allow an appreciation for the previous generation. I'm not going to list all the differences that we all know about, just wanted to share the experience with you like minded folk My only concern now.... is where will the appreciation for the previous generations take me |
