Daytona-Bizzare trip to the AD today...
I found this afternoon kind of strange... first off, I purchased my SS Daytona from my AD on February 1, so it's roughly 6 1/2 months old; (of course, I love it). It seemed to me, at least roughly scanning E-bay, that the SS was coming down in price a bit, maybe they were not as hard to get anymore .
Anyway, I am at the mall this afternoon and wonder in an AD to take a look at their Rolex case, (not the same one I purchased mine from). I ask to see the WG, with the meteroite dial. Beautiful watch and if Ed Mchmann shows up at my door telling me I won the publishers clearing house sweepstakes I'll go ahead and buy it, but honestly it's way out of my price range. The manager of the store starts asking all kinds of questions about my SS, do I have the box? papers? can he check the serial # (which I let him do). He tells me if I buy the WG, he'll give me FULL retail on my SS as a trade-in! AND gave me a great price on the WG!!! About 6K off retail. I tell him I'll think about it, and 15 minutes later he calls me and offers me 10K for my Daytona! That's MORE then retail for a new one! There's no way I could spend the money for the WG (or... could I?....) but I just found it strange an AD offering me more then retail for mine... What do you guys think? |
