Changing date on ladies datejust

Is there a reason why you turn the crown clockwise to change the date on a ladies datejust as opposed to anti-clockwise on the men's version ? I know they are different movements but why wouldn't the date change also be anti-clockwise ?

Just curious, as I initially thought my wife's watch was broken the first time I set the date for her.
