Feels good to be back...

Although there are too many members here to really notice, I've been absent from the pages for quite a while now. I injured myself just before the new year, severing nerves and tendons in both thumbs. Let's just say I'll never buy another glass French press coffee maker.

Yet, after over a month with both my forearms completely wrapped in splinted bandages, I can finally put my favorite watch back on my wrist! I still have limited use of my left thumb, and no use of my right arm yet; but at least I can fit my watch over my left hand now, albeit I must ask my lovely assistant to wind my watch for me.

Once I was finally able to wander into the world again on my own, I found myself staring at wrists with a sort of jealousy and longing an adolescent typically feels amidst their first heartbreak. I recoiled from the world of horology and this forum in an attempt to forget my heart and the fact that I no longer had my favorite timekeeping masterpiece on my wrist. That I had to sink to a level known as the hell of horology (aka Apple Watch) for my time telling needs; when reaching into pockets for phones was no longer an option.

I still have a long road to recovery, with lots of physical therapy and retraining my thumbs to grip and feel things again; but I am at least glad I can wear my mechanical companion again! Crazy thing is, it had died at just about the time I injured myself, since I didn't wear it for a couple of days prior.
