1675 in the wild

Went out to a football match tonight - compliments of a manufacturing engineering firm with which our factory does business.

The rep picks me up at my house, first time I've met him, seems a straight up guy. I notice immediately he's 's sporting a plexi GMT. I say - hey, I've got one just like it, but it's in for service at the moment..is that a 1675 or a 16750. He says I dunno, I tell him mine's from the eighties, he says his is older than that. I ask if it's a quick set date - he says no. OK - he's wearing a 1675..

I spend the evening with him and a couple of coworkers of mine, at the match, have a few pints, so I get a really good look at it. Matte dial, bezels a bit faded. Looks in good nick over all *except* that the 24 hour hand was showing about 0100 but it was actually 1900.

So...it seems the thing is in need of service....he did make a comment about how expensive that would be. I left it basically alone because I'm thinking to ask him if he's interested in selling it.

Only the second Rolex I've run into in my new country here so far in my line of work.

Sure bloody wish Bexley would finish with mine though.
