Smokey and the Bandit
TCM, Turner Classic movies, has events called "Fathom" Once a month, they take an old movie and put in on the big screen for two days only. I think next month is "Fast times at Ridgemont High" In September is "ET" November is "Casa Blanca" and the rest I don't remember but all good flicks. Highly recommend checking it out.
I have seen Smokey probably 50 times, have the new 40th anniversary DVD, and saw the original in 1977. I was 16. That movie started a love of mine of Trans-Ams that culminated with me buying one four years later. That car saw me all through college and Navy Flight School. Unfortunately, when they show it on TCM or other cable channels these days it is heavily edited, they don't even allow the classic Jackie Gleason: "You sumbitch!" So it is always a bit disappointing. Last night I saw it in the theater, in all it's glory. What a great experience. Got me nostalgic and made me laugh out loud (even though I know every line by heart). What a classic (IMHO).
