Fireworks have been around for over 1000 years. Clearly, there's some common enjoyment in them that has driven such longevity. Millions of people get off their couch to go see organized fireworks shows. The backyard variety is simply people bringing a taste of that home.

If people were upset about neighbors employing celebratory gunfire, I'd get that. But hating on fireworks mystifies me.
