Cleaning watch after pool and beach

I normally just rinse it down with a pad and water.

But someone told me I should soak the watch in water for 10 mins or so to get rid of all the salt as it can get under the bezel or between links. I figured with tight tolerances of the new watches it wasn't necessary.

So am I doing it wrong?
