Icon20 FS: 1984 Rolex Submariner (Ref.16800) Matte Dial

FS: 1984 Rolex Submariner (Ref.16800) Matte Dial

Offered at $8000 USD We are always open to offers and trades. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] or by calling (213) 293-0555

This specific example from 1984 would make a great vintage daily driver for the man who appreciates the elements of the vintage matte dial Submariners but needs the durability of a sapphire crystal and the water resistance of a trip-lock crown. These transitional models like the one we are featuring here are becoming increasingly harder and harder to find due to the limited production numbers of these rare transitional examples.

Stock # RLXSUB8416800-5

Style Submariner
Model 16800
Serial 860XXXXX
Size Men's

CASE & BRACELET

The previously polished case retains thick and even lugs, showing very little wear throughout. The Rolex service insert containing a Luminova pearl shows light signs of use and the bezel has been slightly polished as well. The original 93150 oyster bracelet has the original 12 links and shows very minimal stretch and included are the original 593 end links.

DIAL & HANDS

The stunning and original rare transitional matte dial remains in excellent condition. The tritium lume plots show some very light surface lume degradation on some of the plots unseeable to the naked-eye. The hands remain in a similar condition to the dial, only showing very minor degradation at the tip of the minute hand. The tritium dial and hands glow properly under UV and have taken on a sought after egg shell coloration. The original date disc displays the proper and era correct open 6's and 9's.
