1st Rolex is underway. But is it too soon...?
I always liked watches. I make an average amount of money compared to friends/family/co-workers, but always wore better than average watches. I used to only care about the way they look so I always bought quartz. Didn't get the mechanical thing at all. But since I bought a Tag Heuer Carrera chrono off the bay, I started to appreciate mechanical watches more and more...
I started coming here daily and a few months ago I decided I wanted to save up for a pre-owned Submariner date. Since then I've been looking at pre-owned Subs everywhere and know exactly what they should cost. Last weekend, I discovered a great deal. The seller is totally trustworthy and needs to get rid of it. I'm going to examine his Sub this friday, but honestly it's a bit too soon. I'll be only able to buy it if I sell my Carrera. I don't have a big problem with that because I'm sure I'll neglect the Carrera once I get the Sub, but still, it feels a little too soon. On the other hand, some people buy a Rolex on impulse but I have been admiring Sub pictures for months! Shouldn't that count for something? ;-) I'm torn. What do you think I should do? Keep my eyes closed for Subs for a while and buy one in six months (for probably around 500 hundred bucks more)? Or buy it now, rejoice in the amazing deal I got and quickly sell my Carrera so I'm out of debt again...? |
