Nato straps - good enough for world military warfare on the battleground - but not the fairway.
As others have said a nato should be more secure than everything else, especially in the case of a spring bar breakage as it has inbuilt redundancy ... and it was good enough for bond. Also mega props to the gentleman who handed your watch in - that is a dying breed these days! Lastly, as noted elsewhere, impact such a sporting endeavours can break mechanical watch movements so maybe another lesson here is not to wear it while golfing in future :)
