For example. In Chicago there is a Rolex only “boutique”. Rolex does not own it, it is privately owned but they sell no other brands. Just Rolex. It is ran by Tourneau and is located on Michigan Avenue. Was opened in 2011 I believe. Marketed as a Rolex store. As a matter of fact 99% of the people that walk by have zero o idea Rolex does not own and operate that store. They operate under a very strict agreement with Rolex (I have never seen/heard of/anyone getting a discount there, even on say a PM watch. Msrp or bust as I was told there many times) Compare that to Razny Jewelers about 6 blocks to their north. They are an independent jeweler who is a Rolex Authorized dealer. But they also sell Patek under the same roof. Marketed under their own DBA. Walk in there looking to buy a PM Rolex and I bet they will work work with you on the price.

This same situation exists in most every major city in the US.

I have a relationship with a small family owned AD in a small town. They sell Rolex, Tudor, Nomos and shinola, Victorinox and Tag. Did have Omega and a couple others that they have since discontinued. Even though they did the multimillion dollar Rolex remodel a few years back and added the fancy VIP room and Diet Coke fridge their supply on the desirable models doesn’t compare to what the supply at a bigger store does. Makes sense, sell more, get more.

But as you stated hardly anyone has any SS sport models anyhow. But when the big guys get hardly any supply these little guys get practically choked out. Have to imagine it is hard to make a living slowly selling DJ and PM pieces. If my guys used Sales were not good I bet they would be in trouble.
