The OP owns a Sub and asked for input on watches at a much lower price point. If he asked how $2k watches compare against a Sub, I'd certainly understand your response. I think it goes without saying that the Submariner is in a class of its own as easily the most iconic watch ever produced.

I'm just a bit surprised at a sentiment around here lately - I've seen a number of recent posts that seem to cast anything that doesn't bear the Rolex logo as second-hand garbage. Rolex is far and away my favorite brand, but I also have a great appreciation for many others as well. There are some excellent options out there at the price point suggested by the OP - many that I would gladly wear in a rotation with a Submariner for a little spice of variety. Sorry for the lengthy rant.
