Help purchasing DRSD: w/pics

Hi all

I've been lurking here for a few years, just keeping quiet and enjoying the community.

I wanted to post a few pics of a DRSD (my grail) I'm considering buying to see if the community could take a quick scan and let me know if anything jumps out as a red flag? Apologies if the picture come out hard to read, I've never uploaded an image online before...

I've seen pricing and commentary on DRSD's on these forums for a few years now, but it seems to me that in the vintage space, everything is almost an item unto itself.

The watch was last serviced in the early 00's (and I have seen/would own the service certificate) but otherwise does not come with box, papers, or other documentation. Just service doc and a small Rolex pouch.

It looks to me like a Mk4 dial, higher end of the serial number range but looks inline with everything I see online. Think the bezel insert might be replacement (font looks a bit thin), and I don't see any stretch in the bracelet which makes me think it also might be replacement. It does have '585' marks on the ends of the bracelet though. The included service document shows total in the early 2000s of under $600 in total, so I'm not sure much else may have been done at that time beyond a possible insert/bracelet change.

I unscrewed the crown and it looked like there was a fresh/intact black waterproof seal on there. Minimal scratches on the case but it didn't look too 'polished' either.

The only other thought I had, I have a friend with both a red sub and a DRSD, and I believe his DRSD dial is Mk4 as well. I noticed on the DRSD I am looking at, it appears the date aperture/wheel is metal / not painted white. My friend's date aperture/dial I thought the date wheel was painted white? Am I just remembering wrong? My friend is away without his watch or I would have already gone to see it in person. I've seen various pictures online, but just wanted to confirm this date wheel/aperture is basically metal with black date paint on it.

If I go ahead with the purchase I would have a few days to have it formally authenticated, etc.

I just wanted to share some pics and see if you all thought it looked authentic, didn't have any red flags, etc?

I'm happy to pass along other details if I go through with the purchase, but any feedback the community could share for now would be much appreciated.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Regards,
Tony
