Hello From NY

Hello,

I have been browsing the classified section of this forum over the past few days, so I thought I would join officially and introduce myself.

I have had a bit of the watch bug since about 13 years old, when my mom bought me a Tag Heuer diver’s watch. I had that watch for about 9 years, when it fell off my arm windsurfing. Man, I loved that watch, though! Then came a Tag Heuer 2000 Series Professional Chronograph CK 1110. I have had that watch for about 19 years now, I beat the snot out of it, and it is still in my rotation to this day.

I also have a yellow gold Rolex GMT Master Series 16758, which my mom got from a local dealer, and that she passed on to me in high school. I wore that watch to my high school proms and graduations, college graduation, and wedding. Definitely a special occasion piece, as I don’t have the vibe to rock a solid gold watch as an everyday banger.

In 2007, I made my first investment into watches, buying an IWC Spitfire Chronograph and a Panerai Luminor Marina 00049.

This year, I really caught the bug, buying a JLC MUT Perpetual (silver dial) and a Patek Philippe Calatrava 5119. I had to justify this by trading in the IWC, which I kind of regret.

My wishlist includes a Rolex Daytona 116500 (white dial). Currently #3 on the waiting list at my AD, so that will be in my hands in the next year, hopefully. Also #50 for the PP Nautilus 5711.

I think I got into the game a bit late...these SS models could have been had within a month or 2 4 years ago; now the waiting lists are 2 years to “haha we aren’t accepting names anymore”. Unfortunately, I tend to gravitate towards watches I can’t have. Ugh.

Anyway, it’s a lot of fun being on this forum, and I look forward to having it as part of my hobby!!!

Tony
