Platinum durability

I’ve been looking for a day date 40 platinum or day date 2 platinum. Obviously the day date 2 is discontinued so all there is for sale are pre-owned. The ones I’ve tried on all have these small scratches almost like spider web looking fine thin scratches. Is this normal for platinum? These watches all look great new but if this is how they age I’ll have second thoughts. Thanks for any input.
