Datejust 41 vs Explorer 2

Looking at getting one of these as my next watch I've had the older explorer 2 but never had a datejust. I know they are 2 totally different watches I'm looking at the datejust for something different as I have a omega seamaster gmt and a Tudor pelagos. I do wear them for work I work on a boat so they do get scratched but not as bad as you would think. For those who own the datejust can you wear them as an everyday watch. I know the explorer can take the punishment that I would give it can the datejust. Thank you
