Rolex Daytona’s 116500 lost/stolen by USPS
Last month I walked into a Rolex AD looking for a BLNR and to my shock they had two steel ceramic Daytona’s in stock. I felt like I was in a dream since all my local ADs wouldn’t even put me on a list unless I purchased $100k from them and then wait 2-5 years. I was with my girlfriend who is not a watch person and didn’t understand my excitement. I immediately said I will take the white ceramic and after a small hesitation asked them if I could purchase the black ceramic as well. To my surprise they said ok and disclosed the watches arrived 2 hours prior to my walk-in.
When purchasing High ticket items I try to avoid sales tax and asked if they could ship out of state to avoid tax. A decision that I may regret forever. On Monday the dealer said they were ready to ship out USPS and I mentioned I always ship Fedex but they said they always use USPS express because of the insurance. They told me because of my location it make take 2-3 days for arrival and since I assumed the AD knows what they are doing I told them to go ahead. The next day I received a call from USPS that my package arrived and I rushed over. When I arrived to USPS the postmaster said please sign for your envelope. I said your mistaken my package is a box. Upon closer examination she said wait a minute this is your label but it is attached to an envelope set for another destination. Within seconds I realized we have a possible theft/scam. Since it seems strange for the label to be off the package on someone else’s mail. I called the AD from the post office who said they will try to trace the package (how is this possible with the label seperated). I feel the dealer used negligence in using USPS and not securing the label properly with clear tape. They said they are going to file a claim with USPS and refund me but Rolex will not replace the items. (I insisted on replacement not refund). I sold some very nice pieces at a loss immediately after cc purchase to pay for these and can’t imagine not getting replacements. USPS later updated the status as “unable to deliver”. Any suggestions from TRF community? Anyone ever receive a label with no package attached. |
