In fact Demand is so high that even DJs are wait listed now in the UK and surely you're not going to tell me that is from a supply cut? No, that is pure redirected demand from the sports models and general Rolex FOMO hype. No country is immune, customers are global and hungry and if they think Oman or Timbuktu have some SS they will go hunt them down from all over the globe, and if Rolex perceive that this is a slow market they will not resupply them and will merely redistribute their SS to other more profitable markets.
Most people have no clue about professional models or not, they just want the brand. Rolex makes sure the models that will generate most profit to them are available in ADs (PM and bimetal). The SS daytona has always been scarce and produced in a lower quantity. Apply more or less the same principle to the other cheap watches of the brand, and now that rolex = best luxury watch brand in the world to people who are not into watches, just watch people buy the more expensive models.
DJs are waitlisted because they are the cheapest watch of the brand too. Demand is the same, production/distribution has changed massively.
