laser welding help requested.
I've always avoided buying any watch that had engraving on the case back because, and I know it's just a personal preference thing, I just don't like it. I know there are forum members who have no problem with engraving because they view it as a part of the watches history and story, but you can't argue that it can, and often does, significantly impact the watches sales value.
That said, after reading about laser welding and investigating the process a bit, including looking at "before" and "after" photos of watches where it was used to removing even deep engraving, it really does seem to be a very viable option, and the cost doesn't seem to be too prohibitive. I would very much like to be able to add watches with engraving to my potential purchase pool, but the shops that seem most qualified to trust to do a good job are located in either Hong Kong, Spain, or Great Britain. I have no problem sending a watch overseas to have work done, but I would greatly appreciate it if someone who has used laser welding for either a repair or engraving removal could provide a referral. Thanks in advance. |
