As I read the responses in chronological order I found myself disagreeing with the notion that you shouldn't contact LAWW simply because too much time has passed, though I understand sentiment. But for the benefit of knowledge I think passing along the "occurrence" can only be a good thing. As the years pass the potential for more and more of these episodes increases, one would assume. Perhaps there can be a Best Practices procedure (prevention) that comes out of this? And, as you noted, your contact-approach was "very open-hearted" so I don't see how any ill-will could come out of it.
Just my 2 cents.
